What Is Periodontal Therapy?
Periodontal therapy is the treatment of gum disease and the harmful bacteria that collect beneath the gums around your teeth. When bacteria remain below the gumline, they can lead to bleeding gums, bad breath, gum recession, bone loss, and eventually tooth loss.

How Is Periodontal Disease Treated?

Gum disease ranges from mild (gingivitis) to advanced (periodontitis) inflammation and infection of the gums and supporting bone.
What are the signs I might have gum disease?
Common signs include bleeding when brushing or flossing, red or swollen gums, persistent bad breath, gum recession, or loose teeth.
Is gum therapy painful?
We use local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. Mild sensitivity for a few days afterward is normal and short-lived.
How many visits does gum therapy require?
Mild cases may need only one visit. More advanced disease typically requires 2–4 visits across the mouth.
Can gum disease come back after treatment?
