Caring For The Teeth After Getting Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to restore missing teeth. It is placed in the root of the missing tooth and is fused into the actual bone. The healing process can take several months, but it is essential that the bone and implant are strong enough to hold the prosthetic tooth in place. But how does one take care of their teeth after the dental implant procedure.

  • Icing and rest – Immediately after the surgery, your dentist will advise you to ice the area that received treatment. You may also be recommended to take the rest of the day off.
  • Painkillers – If you experience pain that does not go away with the help of ice, you can use painkillers to reduce the pain.
  • Antibiotics – Antibiotics are needed to make the healing process faster and more comfortable.
  • Mouth rinse – A mouth rinse is used to prevent infection and lessens discomfort. Additionally, you should not eat or drink for 30 minutes prior to rinsing.
